I am lying on my couch surrounded by catalogues. I need stuff--lots of stuff. Most of my clothes are going into their fifth season and another shirt goes in the trash every time I do laundry. I even have a good idea of what I want. But for some reason I can't quite pick up the phone and make the orders. It is not that I am cheap--I will happily spend my money for a nice dinner and the theater or other show. I don't know why I have such a hard time spending money on tangible objects.

I need to get new clothes for this seminar in DC next week, but I am paralyzed by the thought of shopping. I'm hard to fit--there are seldom size fours in the stores and the clothes are not made for mature people with a fashion sense. They seem mostly to look like a cross between sex and the city and kmart. But I can't wear the same things I've worn for the past four years, and this is my last chance to get anything at all. so--off I go, again!

PS: Dear Macy's: You are the only department store in town. Philadelphia may be in mourning, but only for its department stores! We are neither skanky nuns nor Sicilian widows--shortening the skirts and tightening the jackets does not make up for the fact that all your office clothes are black polyester!

Who doesn't love apocafic, especially when the ficwriter has a buget and Jensen Ackles. There were many good lines (Lucifer is wearing Sam to the Prom a chilling favorite), and a good apoca-town.

I really liked that it was the Croatoan virus, because I love it when shows remember the long tail of backstory they create as they go and drag behind them. And, in the spirit of that long tail, I loved that Sam called Dean to tell him that he was going to be Satan's meat suit, because it harkens back to all the secrets the brothers kept from each other that bit them in the ass every time. So, lesson learned. Good boy.

But I think the most interesting thing was at the very end, and probably just in my head. After being shown what will happen in the future, we see Dean waiting by the car and we see Sam drive up--Dean called him back, Sam came. And Dean pulls out this huge knife--I think it is Ruby's magical knife. And Dean holds the knife while they talk. And it seems to me that Sam flinches, and I couldn't help wondering what he thought Dean was going to do with that knife, but he just kind of waited, all flinchy, to see if Dean had decided to kill him with the magic knife and cut that future off at the pass. But he didn't run or try to stop him. So I figure if Dean thought that was the only way, Sam was going to let him. Which kind of breaks my heart for Sammy. .

What a great day! Wandered all over the upper east side with dotfic, taking notes and getting a sense of locations for Legacy of Daemons. Had Yummy lunch and walked a goodly bit of the way back to the Port Authority--gave up and grabbed a cab at 53rd Street and 5th Avenue. I thought about going the whole way, and I'm pretty sure I could have made it, but I still had to walk home from the bus station here. And just to give the nod, but as a place to visit, as an experience I love over and over, Times Square is pretty much my favorite. I get that kick of endorphins every single time.

On my way home in Philly I bumped into a friend who is a detective with the police here, so I asked him a few procedural things for the book, which were very cool and I had not got them quite right so I will fix them in the morning. Gleep! What authenticity neepery!

Got home just in time to see most of the emmys, which were funnier than I've ever seen them. Dr. Horrible!

Thank you Dotfic! And thank you Paul!
